The week in which everything broke

My highlight of the past week was Rachel and Finn finally doing it. This is very sad statement, not only because I am hopelessly behind on Glee (and have run out of episodes too) but also because I am usually not a sad person.
Last week, however, I pretty much broke every electronic device I own. First, my laptops keys started going dodgy and falling off which led to the fairly new laptop having to go to laptop hospital in Johannesburg. Not only is this a 4 hr drive away, when I checked it in they also informed me that it needs to stay until after Easter. I am now suffering from separation anxiety. The laptop which I was luckily able to borrow keeps crashing on me and keeps rejecting my external hard drive - which has all my data on it.
I also managed to break my kindle. As it is still under warranty, amazon have been super accommodating by sending out a replacement free of charge. Unfortunately, they were only able to ship to the UK from where it has to make its way to this beautiful country in May, when the supervisor comes again. In the meanwhile I am left with a kindle that only shows half a page. Imagine my joy when reading books.

My shower broke too only allowing me to have cold water - and with winter approaching this is not something I am willing to put up with long term.

I was supposed to visit a friend in Namibia next weekend - unfortunately Home Affairs have informed me that while they can not find my visa extension application and therefore can't advise me when an outcome is expected, I will not be able to leave the country until the decision has been made. Otherwise I will be denied entry on my return.

On the bright side of things, 4 days of holidays coming up with lots of time to get some PhD work done.
