Rohitesh, a mate of mine who went to Linacre last year came to visit me from Joburg last weekend. It was great to see him again and to take some time off work to explore Kruger Park.
Kruger is absolutely amazing. Wide bushland and with lots of surprises. Where else in the world can you turn a corner and be suddenly faced by an angry elephant mother trying to protect her calf (she came running after the car!), watch millions of impalas mock-fighting and grazing, witness a hippo's propellor poo (namely shitting diarrhea and using its tail as a propellor to mark the territory) or have lions strolling lazily across the road. It was a great weekend which ended with a walking safari and two guides with rifles explaining different types of poo and animals in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A stark contrast to this was the team building trip to Kruger today. Following an extensive shopping round for braai essentials we finally made it to the gate by 10am (which is late considering that most animals are active during the morning and late afternoon). We had hired a taxi in which African Kwaito by "The Professor" was loudly blaring out of the speakers. Each team member would take turns at dancing while the rest were clapping and cheering them on. It was astonishing. We did manage to see quite a lot of game in additon to a 3 hour braai stop with lots of food=meat and charming monkeys who were trying to steal half of our provisions.
