Virus

My Southeast Asia experience is complete as of today. I managed to get a virus from one of the Asia Urbs computers on my flash drive which then infected my computer. Great stuff, because it is a new virus which I haven’t so far found on the Internet and which seems to be of Cambodian origin so no anti-virus software and I’ve tried them all, found it. It was only me worrying about my computer being as slow as one of the lame ducks in the university library and finally asking the IT consultant here for advice.

Now, my computer with all the data I have collected from my internship and research I did for my thesis are without backup - typically me - in quarantine at the computer clinic and will hopefully be cured by tomorrow. Otherwise I will bring a very sick computer back to Italy.

I will spend my last couple of days in Kampot, Kep, Sihanoukville (Kampong Sem) and Bangkok before getting the train back to Munich on April 18th. I hope my plans are not suicidal because it’s Khmer New Year this weekend and every Cambodian seems to be travelling to the beach and public transport is about to break down. As long as I don’t miss my flight....
