Being good, again…

Today, the day after the training saw me and Max taking the morning off to go to Kantha Bopha Children’s hospital to donate blood. Turns out I’m 0+ which is not the preferred blood group, but the hospital staff was very kind and glad to have received the donation anyways. Donated blood, especially type B is needed desperately for the treatment of children in hemorrhagic shock of which there are a lot, due to the mosquitoes the high infection rate of Dengue fever. There were a lot of families sitting in the hospital grounds waiting for treatment. There was also a second queue outside the hospital waiting for the afternoon to be treated then (picture). After being so generous we treated ourselves with a massage at one of the massage parlors in town. That was an adventure as we had chosen one with chairs in clear view to the public as to not get into the danger of having to fight of an erotic masseuse. After washing our feet however, they asked us to come to the second floor, up a tiny flight of stairs and into a room with red curtains and loads of mattresses on the floor. With loads of cheesy music we were told to take off our clothes and lie down. That was a first as I hadn’t expected to see Max in boxers and was a bit shaken that I had to strip as well. We were handed towels which covered the important body parts so it wasn’t a problem in the end. Turns out later, that they thought we were married.
