It's day three of the Kruger Hike and my turn to carry the First Aid Kit (only to be used in case of missing limbs!). The extra 2kg were wearing heavily on my shoulders but it was a great 3hr hike nonetheless. We stopped under another big fig tree for breakfast and then took a bush shower at a water reservoir. So nice and refreshing, even if we had quite a few bugs in the water.
Then we hung out around the watering hole and reservoir to see what animals might be trooping past.First was a family of warthog who were running around chasing each other with their tails up in the air. We also saw a tawny eagle and some other birds. Two elephant bulls came to dunk there trunks into the reservoir which was quite amusing to watch and a whole heard of buffalo (maybe 50 animals) approached us a number of times but then were too shy to pass. The bull wasn't too shy to jump one of the cows though in front of our eyes. Buffalo porn at its finest.
We went for an afternoon walk as well but saw nothing but paw prints. The wind was not in our favour and made leopards, giraffe and rhino run the other way.
We took another bush shower in the evening - quite decadent and spent an amazing last night under the stars around the camp fire. In the morning there were rhino tracks round our tents. Quite amazing!
