Not having yet recovered from the jet lag we were basically shocked out of bed in the morning as my sister sounded as if she was breaking down the hotel door.
We spent a thoroughly enjoyable morning at Scarborough Beach, one of the nicest beaches in the region with white sand and turquoise blue water.
The afternoon was spent at Caversham Wildlife Park where I was able to touch and see a Wombat, the greatest of all Australian animals. Wombats eat, poo and sleep. There were also loads of Roos relaxing in the shade, one even carrying a Joey in its pouch. The Roos and Wallabys were quite tame and so we were able to pet them as well. Roo poo resembles large rabbit poo by the way.
Koalas were there as well and one of the park rangers explained that Eucalyptus leaves do not contain enough carbs for the poor Koalas to be active which means they snore through most of the day and can only move very slowly. Poor things, I wonder if that is what happens to people on the Atkins Diet as well???
The evening was spent doing what Australians do best: eating huge portions of meat at a BBQ and telling stories about the Outback.
